Temperature Information
The High Performance Colossus range of TTV Butterfly Valves is designed to operate across an extensive temperature spectrum, making them highly versatile for a variety of demanding applications. These valves are built to maintain performance even under extreme temperature conditions, thanks to the use of advanced materials that offer superior resistance to thermal stress.
A key feature that sets the Colossus range apart is the inclusion of both Inconel 718 and AISI 316 shafts, each offering distinct advantages in different temperature ranges. Inconel 718, a nickel-chromium superalloy, is particularly renowned for its exceptional performance in high-temperature environments. It can withstand temperatures up to 600°C, making it the material of choice for extreme heat applications, such as those found in power generation, aerospace, and high-pressure steam systems. Inconel 718’s resistance to oxidation and corrosion at elevated temperatures further enhances its durability, ensuring a long service life even in the harshest operating conditions.
On the other hand, the AISI 316 stainless steel shaft, while not capable of reaching the same high-temperature limits as Inconel 718, still offers excellent thermal performance, with an operational range extending up to 500°C (932°F). This makes it highly suitable for more moderate temperature environments where corrosion resistance is a priority, such as chemical processing, pharmaceutical production, and food and beverage industries. AISI 316 is known for its resistance to chloride-induced corrosion, which is especially critical in applications involving seawater or aggressive chemical exposure.
