Frequently Asked Questions

The service covers the McCannalok double offset high performance butterfly valve (all series and pressure classes), the McCannalok Cryogenic series, the Tri Lok® triple offset butterfly valve, the Tri Lok®-Cx, the 3-Cx resilient seated butterfly valve, the 4-Cx double offset butterfly valve, the 2-Cx PTFE-lined butterfly valve, the Acris® Series 24/25 PFA-lined butterfly valve, and the Series 30/31, 32/33, and 35/36 resilient seated ranges. If you have a Bray valve not listed here, contact us and we'll advise on suitability.

No. You supply the existing valve body — we supply the actuator package and carry out the fitment. The only exception is if an inspection on receipt reveals that the valve requires reconditioning before it is safe to automate, in which case we'll contact you before proceeding.

The valve should be cleaned, fully depressurised, and free from process medium. We carry out a condition inspection on receipt and will advise if any issues are found before proceeding with the actuator build.

Yes. All valves in the Bray butterfly valve range — including the McCannalok, Tri Lok®, Tri Lok®-Cx, 3-Cx, 4-Cx, 2-Cx, Acris®, and Series 30/31 — feature an ISO 5211 top flange as standard. This allows direct mounting of compatible quarter-turn electric or pneumatic actuators without additional bracket fabrication in the majority of sizes. We confirm the drive bushing and coupling requirements at the point of technical review.

Yes. Electric and pneumatic actuators for cryogenic duty are available for the McCannalok Cryogenic series (NPS 3–24 | DN 80–600). The extended bonnet design keeps the actuator body away from the cold zone. The actuator specification for cryogenic assemblies is subject to confirmation of operating temperature, process medium (including oxygen service cleaning requirements), and any relevant third-party certification requirements — please include these details in your enquiry.

Yes. Quarter-turn electric and pneumatic actuators are available for the Tri Lok® (ASME Class 150 to 900, NPS 3–48) and the Tri Lok®-Cx (PN 10 to 40, DN 80–600). Tri Lok® valves are SIL 3 capable and ATEX certified, and actuator packages to the same certifications can be specified. Please confirm the valve series, size, pressure class, temperature, and any SIL or ATEX requirements when enquiring.

Yes. The McCannalok metal seated variant is available as a control valve (Inconel® seat, Class IV leakage per FCI 70-2) and can be paired with a modulating electric actuator accepting a 4–20 mA or 0–10 V input signal. The actuator selection is based on the required control characteristic and operating pressure differential. Please confirm the control signal, required flow characteristic, and pressure conditions when enquiring.

Typical turnaround from receipt to return despatch is 5–10 working days for standard electric actuation on quarter-turn butterfly valve types. ATEX-specified assemblies, McCannalok Cryogenic builds, Tri Lok® large-bore assemblies, or modulating control configurations may require longer depending on actuator availability. A confirmed lead time is given at the point of order.

Yes — batch submissions are welcome. Please include the valve series, size, seat type, and actuation requirements for each valve in your enquiry so we can confirm a combined schedule and, where applicable, batch pricing.

The actuator package and fitment work are covered by standard warranty terms. Full details are provided with your quotation and assembly documentation.

Yes. Where pneumatic actuation is preferred but modulating control is required — for example on a McCannalok metal seated or 4-Cx in a flow control application — a pneumatic positioner can be included as part of the assembly. The positioner accepts a 4–20 mA input signal and drives the actuator to a proportional position. Please confirm the required control signal, air supply pressure, and whether a volume booster or solenoid valve is also required when enquiring.

Yes. The Acris® PFA-lined butterfly valve is rated for vacuum service down to 0.0002 psia (approximately 1 × 10?² torr) and is used in semiconductor, ultrapure water, and high-purity chemical applications. Electric actuation is the standard choice for these services. Please confirm the operating vacuum level, process medium, and any cleanliness or certification requirements when enquiring, as the actuator specification may be influenced by the cleanliness standard of the application.
