What to Send Us

To specify the right actuator and process your free issue enquiry efficiently, please have the following information ready.

Peter Smith valve figure number and nominal size (e.g. Fig. 280 DN100, Fig. 650 DN80) — confirms series, body material, and connection standard
Maximum operating pressure (bar or psi) — required for actuator torque/thrust calculation
Maximum differential pressure across the valve at operation
Required fail-safe position — fail-open, fail-closed, or stay-put (double-acting)
Control signal or supply type — instrument air pressure (bar), electrical voltage, or analogue signal (4–20 mA)
Process medium and operating temperature — particularly relevant for steam and high-temperature water service
Hazardous area classification — Zone, category, and gas group if ATEX-certified actuator or accessories are required

Which Peter Smith Valves Can We Actuate?

Globe Stop Valves — Cast Iron Fig. 181, Cast Steel Fig. 280, Gunmetal Fig. 133 Flanged globe stop valves suitable for isolation duty on steam, water, and general industrial service. Cast iron body rated to BS EN 1092-2; cast steel to BS EN 1092-1. Available from DN15 to DN300 depending on material. Multi-turn electric actuators are the standard choice, with spring-return or double-acting pneumatic options available on smaller bore sizes.

Angle Stop Valves — Cast Iron Fig. 182, Cast Steel Fig. 281, Gunmetal Fig. 133L Angle-pattern globe valves for corner installations and applications requiring right-angle flow direction change. Same pressure and temperature ratings as equivalent globe stop valves. Actuator fitment follows the same multi-turn electric or pneumatic approach.

Parallel Slide Gate Valves — Cast Steel Fig. 650 Cast steel parallel slide gate valves rated to PN25/40. Sizes 50mm to 300mm (larger sizes on request). Full-bore, low-pressure-drop design suited to steam, condensate, and high-temperature water. Multi-turn electric actuators are standard for automated operation; gearbox mounting available for larger bore sizes.

Double Regulating Valves — Cast Iron Fig. BV203, Gunmetal Fig. BV307 Oblique pattern double regulating valves for heating and chilled water systems. Available DN15 to DN300. On/off and modulating electric actuators can be fitted to enable automated flow regulation or remote isolation, integrated with building energy management systems (BEMS) and BACnet/Modbus control architectures.

Boiler Crown Valves — Cast Steel Globe Fig. 280DP, Cast Steel Angle Fig. 281DP High-integrity cast steel crown valves for boiler isolation duty. Electric actuator fitment for remote operation and automated sequencing in boiler plant applications. Actuator specification subject to confirmation of operating torque at maximum working pressure.
