The Pepperl+Fuchs KFD2-STC5-Ex1 is a 1-channel isolated barrier designed to power and interface SMART transmitters in hazardous area applications. It ensures safe and reliable signal transmission from Ex zones to safe areas while maintaining full galvanic isolation between input, output, and power supply circuits.
Powered via a 24 V DC supply through the Pepperl+Fuchs Power Rail system, the KFD2-STC5-Ex1 enables efficient installation and reduced wiring complexity within control panels. It supports both 2-wire and 3-wire SMART transmitters, as well as 2-wire SMART current sources, providing flexibility across a wide range of process automation applications.
The unit delivers a 4 mA to 20 mA output signal, configurable as either current sink or current source, allowing seamless integration into PLC and DCS systems. Its compact DIN rail design and reliable performance make it ideal for use in oil & gas, chemical processing, and other hazardous environments where intrinsically safe signal conditioning is required.
