How do Swivel Connectors and Traps work?
Spirax Sarco Swivel Connectors and Traps are designed to turn what is traditionally a complex steam trap installation into a single, compact “trap station.”
At the heart of the system is the pipeline connector, such as the PC40, PC4000, or PC4001, which is installed directly into the condensate line.
This connector incorporates isolation valves on either side of the trap connection, allowing the trap to be safely removed without shutting down the whole system.
Many models also include integrated depressurisation ports and strainers, meaning the line can be vented, drained, and protected from debris in one unified assembly.
The swivel connector interface ensures the trap mounts in the correct orientation every time, regardless of pipe alignment.
Once the connector is in place, a compatible swivel-mounted steam trap is simply bolted on.
This modular approach allows traps to be replaced in minutes, without cutting pipework or disturbing surrounding components.
During operation, condensate flows through the connector into the trap, which discharges it as normal.
The result is a cleaner, more reliable steam system with faster servicing, fewer leak points, and long-term performance you can trust.
